Sign Language is only one of the ways our students find their voice. Through art, dance, sports and vocational training our students constantly amaze us with their talents and abilities, displaying their hopes and dreams for all the world to see.
As early as Prep Class our students are encouraged to find their creativity. Using tiny pieces of paper they meticulously glued each piece in place to create a mosaic. This activity helped them improve their manual dexterity as well as their creativity. Cherrie Bliss from our Prep Class in Loon, Bohol at the age of 5 sat for over a hour working on this project and was so proud of what she had created.
In Maasin, Leyte the students there put their art on display and it was quite impressive.
The butterfly is made of colored egg shells!
Lawrence who is deaf himself is the art teacher for our students in Maasin, Leyte and does a great job at spurring on their creativity.
This year at the Bohol Deaf Academy an art contest was held. Those who were chosen were given one section of the fencing at the basketball court as their canvas. It became a beautiful mural of their love for home, country and their identity as a deaf community.
