Sure Catch Fishing Products is one of the EIGP’s (Employment Income Generating Projects) run by IDEA to employ deaf workers. This business began with only 4 employees and now is running with 55!
With over 500 patterns our ladies produce 50,000 fishing flies per month to meet the incoming orders. It is meticulous work that requires steady hands and lots of concentration.
We are in the process of securing a grant to double the size of this operation and increase our staff to 100, to be able to fill the requests for additional materials.
This business is a show piece for visitors as they come to see what is possible for self sustaining businesses that provides employment to the deaf and profits that go back in to supporting our private deaf high school.
The employees run their own co-op and get to participate in the profits of the business. Part of our efforts to allow the deaf to be in control of their own futures.
