What We Do

Educate, Employ, and Empower

Our programs focus on three core areas—education, empowerment, and employment—ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to live a fulfilling and independent life.

0 1

Educate

Every Deaf child is born with God-given potential and dreams waiting to unfold. In the Philippines, many Deaf children face barriers to accessing sign language and quality education that would unlock these gifts.

IDEA builds bridges between capability and opportunity through K-12 education delivered in sign language. Here, students develop strong academic foundations while becoming part of a vibrant Deaf community where language flourishes. Many live on campus with caring dorm parents while maintaining family connections.

At Bohol Deaf Academy (grades 7-12), students gain vocational skills that unlock future independence and meaningful employment, enabling them to fully express their unique talents and purpose.

Employ

In the Philippines, communication barriers and limited employer awareness create workplace obstacles for qualified Deaf individuals. To address these systemic challenges, IDEA has established several businesses that provide meaningful employment opportunities for our graduates.

These businesses showcase the skills and innovation that Deaf employees bring to the workplace. Any profits from these ventures are reinvested back into IDEA’s work.

Empower

Beyond academics, IDEA exists to provide holistic support to thrive in all areas of life.

Spiritual Well-Being: Outreach programs offer students opportunities for spiritual growth, including Bible studies, signed Church services, and community activities that share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Learn about Tip Tip Deaf Church here.

Physical Well-Being: Nurses provide medical care and ensure nutritional needs are met. Dorm parents offer daily care and meals, ensuring students’ health and well-being.

Emotional Well-Being: Social workers maintain strong connections with students’ families, and dorm supervisors nurture and care for students around the clock.

Social Well-Being: Many students arrive with no formal language or social skills. IDEA helps them develop communication and socialization through structured learning, peer mentoring, and dorm life. Watch our Deaf Festival Highlight video here.
