80% of Deaf Filipinos are unemployed due to widespread discrimination and the stigma surrounding disability.

Where IDEA Serves
IDEA’s work is focused on the islands of Bohol and Leyte in the central Philippines. These regions are home to thousands of deaf children and adults who benefit from our education and employment programs.
Our History
Before IDEA, Deaf individuals in Bohol lived in isolation, with no access to sign language or education. Founded in 1985 by Dennis Drake, IDEA introduced Deaf education and vocational training, transforming lives. Today, IDEA runs 8 schools and 8 businesses, helping over a thousand Deaf individuals achieve independence.
