Because of your partnership, grades 7-12 students are now gaining job-ready skills in sewing, cooking, baking, gardening, woodworking, & hospitality. Social workers will visit our Deaf students’ families during the summer months, ensuring no child is forgotten.
New students will be sought out and welcomed into the IDEA family. And, Bible studies will continue to deepen faith across campus. These are all critical parts of the abundant life Jesus came to give each of us (John 10:10)—and you made it happen.
God is opening new doors this year, and we’re asking you to walk through them with us. First, we’re making room for more. Right now, thousands of Deaf children in remote areas have never attended school, never learned sign language, and never heard the Gospel in a way they can understand. We can’t unsee that need.
That’s why this year, we’re venturing further, dedicating full-time staff equipped with remote hearing screening devices to find these precious children and bring them into the IDEA family. This means we’re boldly praying and seeking more sponsorships to welcome every child God brings our way. Second, we’re raising up new evangelists. Every student is now participating in Bible studies, and many are receiving faith-sharing training. Last year, 23 students made first-time decisions for Christ. When we launched this school year’s outreach club at Bohol Deaf Academy, we hoped for 10 sign-ups…we got 56!
All 56 are now being trained in evangelism, and those already trained are regularly visiting elementary schools and sharing lessons with their peers. Our Deaf Church is also equipping their families & congregation so the Deaf can reach the Deaf.
Here’s why this matters: globally, only 2% of Deaf people know Jesus. But we believe God is stirring something powerful at IDEA. We’re praying and working for IDEA students, graduates, and staff to drastically change that number & bring multitudes into the Kingdom. None of this happens without you.
