V is for Vocational Training
Last year, a student named Noejay told us he wanted to train so he could find work and support his family someday. Someday came quickly. Noejay graduated, earned his national certification in cookery, and works at Garden Café today, one of IDEA’s businesses.
He is not alone. As a student, Joseph shadowed carpentry at a local furniture shop and impressed the owner so much that he was offered a job weeks before graduation. Other graduates work at farms, bakeries, hotels, tutoring centers, malls, restaurants, and more.
In a country where 80% of Deaf people are unemployed due to barriers in society, these experiences become the difference between dependence and independent living with a paycheck.
That’s why the V in LOVE is for Vocational Training. Will you help fund transportation to internships, ingredients for cooking classes, wood for carpentry students, and more?
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” (Colossians 3:23)
