Through the generosity of NORFIL Foundation, IDEA was able to provide core houses to five families of our deaf students that lost their homes during the onslaught of category 5 Super Typhoon Odette in December 2021.
The core houses were prefabricated at Hammer and Nails Livelihood Center, one of IDEA’s Employment & Income Generating Projects.
IDEA’s Founder, Dennis Drake, previously designed the core house during the 2013 earthquake in Bohol. The same prototype was used to provide transitional shelter for the typhoon Odette victims.
IDEA’s construction crew and the families of the students worked hand in hand in the onsite installation of their new home.
Many of our deaf students’ families have been in desperate situations and had their hearts shattered but hope was never lost. With each other’s support, we are REBUILDING LIVES.
