James, our IDEA US President, and Pastor Glen from Faith Chapel, a long-time IDEA supporter and donor, paid a visit to our deaf students in Leyte, Philippines, on February 5-7, 2024. They had the opportunity to connect with the children, teachers, and parents at the schools and dorms of the Macrohon, Maasin, and Ormoc City SPED Centers. Students welcomed them with dances, songs interpreted in sign language, and even a drum and lyre corps! They also met with the school principals and district school supervisors. Aside from that, they were able to visit the homes of two of our supported students and checked on the on-going project that they funded.
Spending time with them was truly heartwarming for Leyte Island Association for the Deaf (LIAD) Inc., IDEA’s spin off project in Leyte . It has filled them with so much gratitude and kept their hopes alive.
