40 Years of Spreading JOY with IDEA

Forty years ago, God stirred a vision to bring education, skills, and hope to Deaf children in the Philippines. What began with a handful of students has grown into a thriving community.

Today, that vision lives in hundreds of graduates who now work as teachers, business owners, carpenters, and community leaders. It lives in parents who beam with pride as their Deaf children graduate—children they once feared had no future. And it lives in students who are discovering their gifts, their purpose, and their God-given potential. But our work isn’t finished. Thousands of Deaf children still wait in isolation, unaware that education exists for them. Current students still need support to reach their full potential. And each Christmas, we are given the chance to remind every member of the IDEA family that they are deeply loved—by us and by Christ.

This anniversary year, we’re focusing on funding three areas of JOY:

  • Journey – Helping students grow from isolation to independence by learning job skills, living in safe dorms and classrooms, and finding confidence in Christ.
  • Outreach – Reaching Deaf children who have never been to school and welcoming them into the IDEA family, along with new sponsors and friends.
  • Year-End Celebrations – Making sure every student feels remembered at Christmas with gifts, campus celebrations, and the reminder that they are God’s beloved children.

Here’s how your donations can spread JOY:

  • $20 gives a student a Christmas gift (for many, the only one they receive)
  • $50 helps a newly found student walk into school for the very first time, beginning a journey out of isolation.
  • $150 equips an entire class with sewing skills they can use for work, dignity, and self-reliance.
  • $500 provides career training that prepares a student for steady work and independence.

Give today at ideadeaf.org (or by returning your envelope) and help us reach our $40,000 goal, so every child can share in the JOY of Christmas and beyond.

Joyfully,
Amy Lee
